Sewing projects
Now that I've collected all these sewing machines, doesn't it seem like I should, hmmm... sew?
First project: My leetle bag I made this about a month ago. I was so proud that I just gazed at it for several days.
Then I took a beginning sewing class where we made an apron. You may want to shield your eyes. It's really purple.
Dork wearing her purple apron:
This may actually be the first time I've ever actually worn an apron. And you can be dang sure I won't be wearing it to do anything messy.
This weekend's project was a handy tote bag from Sew Mama Sew.
What you can't see from this angle is that the striped on the other side are horizontal. Oops. I find the whole cutting out aspect of sewing a bit frustrating. Of course there were lots of things that were frustrating about knitting when I first started.
I'm ready to start the finishing on Cabaret Raglan, speaking of knitting.
I just read The Thirteen Tale which is the first book I've read in a weekend in a long time. It was interesting, but maybe a little too V.C. Andrews. I've got the first two Geraldine Brooks books to read next. I can't decide which to read first, plague or Civil War.
But right now I have a cat DEMANDING attention. When Kiki meows, it sounds a lot like, "Me Now! Me Now!"

I love the apron! Really. I can't sew totes and the like because they easily betray me by letting the world know that I can neither cut nor sew a straight line. I really need to get some sewing done. I gained a lot of weight over this past year and I can't fit into my summer dresses and without an AC and working at home I need summer dresses to keep my sanity.

BTW, you made me laugh when you said you took a beginning sewing class. Most people may not know how to sew when they buy their first machine but by the 2nd or 3rd they usually do. heheheh

Ignoring the purple, it looks great. Way better than my first (and only) apron I had to make for "domestic science" class, back in the 70's!
The bags look great. Very Summer-y!

Plague! Plague!
The apron looks cute! The purple is lovely, don't listen to Marina. ;)
Nice projects! I believe you qualify as a seamstress now.

You look so cute in that apron!! I need one of those.
FYI
My blog is acting up...the comments feature isn't working right now and you may have to re-subscribe to the feed. It is a hosting problem. Blech!

My cat says "NOW!" Love the bags and apron AND the purple! I can't find skirts I like, so I'm getting the itch to sew too, but not enough to finish the linings in the knitted bags in my WIP basket. Go figure.

I vote Civil War! Then you can give us a review.
I think your first-time-sewing projects are amazing! I really love that apron, and you don't look dorky. And just think of all the project bags you can sew up now.

Nice bags!! Love the apron! I have one I sewed in a class, it's decoration, I hate to use it, too pretty! :)

OH! You got the sewing bug too. I just wish there was more time in a day. The aprons kind of grow on ya. I love mine. I made a rather bland tan calf-length dress that looked kind of blah, but when I put on my bright pink/maroon/blue hydrangea apron over it that's just slightly shorter - MAN I feel so girly! I wore it all day. Your projects look great. I love the lined bag.

Oh my goodness!!! You are a pro already. The apron. The lined bag. Wow. You are a natural at this. I'm so impressed. And as for the mis-matched stripes, just call them a "design feature". Any old bag can have a striped lining that goes the same way on both sides. But your bag has character!!

Very nice! I love the tote. That lining oops... it's a design detail. ;)

Nice job on the Leetle Bag. I'm so honored it was your first project, and I'm glad it turned out well for you!
