How long have I been knitting swatches?
I started the TKGA Master Hand Knitter Level 1 adventure in 2004. Yes, FOUR years ago. I've worked on it off and on since then. Somewhere in the middle they changed the program so I basically started over. I finally got serious and knit a bunch of swatches last weekend. One more swatch to go, a hat and some written stuff and I'll be sending it off either this month or next (depending, of course, on my current indexing project). I've learned a lot! Of course when I started I'd only been knitting about 18 months so that's to be expected.
I finished the back of St. Brigid. About halfway up I realized that I wasn't doing the right &^%%^& chart for one of the cables so my side cables aren't mirrored. CarrieK had the unfortunate experience of emailing me during my meltdown. Being the good woman that she is, she talked me down and helped me to rationalize, I mean realize, that it's the back and who's gonna notice. I have been very careful to do it correctly on the front.
I often say at the beginning of project that it's my favorite project EVER. This usually fades pretty quickly. But here I am at nearly the halfway point and St. Brigid is still my favorite project EVER.
I'm heading to knitting camp this weekend. I'll be taking classes from Lorna Misner, originator of Lorna's Laces. Speaking of which, I better get my homework knit up.
I've always known that Zoey is the coolest, but this just proves it. I'll let you just guess how happy she was at this moment.

Cool dog. They, our animals, do entertain us don't they? I am glad you were calmed down during the meltdown because who will notice something like that unless they examine the back of the sweater so very carefully. If the picture is of the back then I could not see anything but I only glanced at the piece, maybe if I sat there an examined it very, very carefully I might notice something but you have better things to knit now. Like homework. Thought I had given up homework after I left school but mine is finished. Did not block it but there is still time if I look at it again and feel it needs to be blocked. Looking forward to camp also. Hopefully I will not forget anything and will bring way too much to work on. Right now I have three groups of different types and colors of yarns for the random class and nothing yet for the hand dyed/hand painted class oh well....See you there.

I have always been interested in the TKGA. Do tell us more about it when you can.
I think it's beautiful. Mirrored or not.

Poor Carrie. I stopped short of accusing her of making you cry ;-) Definitely! With all that cabley goodness going on, no one is going to notice.
Is part of the reason Zoey is so cool, because the AC is on?

Sonya- We have a Master Knitters Certificate program as well, but since I loathe and detest making swatches, that leaves me out.
St. Brigid, no biggie. Just resist telling people where the error is, no one will know.
Zoe- doesn't look too happy.

Great swatches . . . you are already a Master Knitter, even without the certificate to make it official. :) I never would have known that cable crosses the wrong way - it looks just fine to me. That's the coolest doggie I've ever seen!!

Always happy to oblige. Wow, St. Brigid looks amazing! And so close to being done! Those cables really are fabulous. Darn. Another sweater I'm going to have to start.
All those swatches! I admit, I gasped. I am not a swatcher generally, but for that purpose, totally!
Camp will be fabulous, lucky you. Zoey is the coolest. You must be pretty cool too, if she hangs out with you! ;)

That's neat that you are doing the Master Knitter program. Please keep us posted on how it goes!
I wouldn't have noticed the cables at all, so I really don't think the non-knitters around you are going to either. This from the woman who is going to pull out the sleeve she started sewing in, because she found a mistake "no one else will know." Grr.
Zoey is trying to cheer you up!!

The back of St. Brigid looks wonderful. Mine has been on the back burner while I've been trying to get work done on my Henley.
Poor Zoey! Ah the shame (and the CUTENESS) of wearing sunglasses.

St. Brigid is just gorgeous. I'm glad that you're halfway through and still loving the process. :)

Your St. Brigid is a gorgeous color!
I hate when that cable problem happens... I have one of those on my Na Craga, and no one notices, luckily! No one will notice your's either.
