Project Monogamy in 2010

14 Jan

I'm thinking 2010 will be the year of project monogamy.  Of course I reserve the right to make 2010 about something else later, but for now, project monogamy.

Ingeborg has moved back into the rotation for the Knit a Norwegian KAL.  Very fun KAL, by the way.  I had knit a few inches 3 years ago, then tossed it aside willy-nilly.   After picking it up and knitting a few more inches I realized my gauge was way off so I ripped the body back to where the patterning starts above the hem.  I decided the sleeves would be my gauge swatches.  Knitting the sleeves first is fun!

DH's birthday is in the spring and he is getting this:

Dale of Norway polar bear sweater

Not in finished form you realize.  Hopefully we will not have a repeat of the moose sweater debacle, ie. it will be finished by next year's birthday.  This pattern is in the elusive, out-of-print Dale of Norway book #79, but luckily Allegro Yarns offers the kit.

I've been trying to read actual books in 2010 too instead of just Ravelry and blogs.  I was doing pretty well too until an iphone version of Chuzzle came out.  Too many nights my reading time (between knitting and falling asleep) is taken up by little exploding fuzzballs.  Could there BE a bigger waste of time?

What’s wrong with giving your time knitting it as another present ;-) It will make a great Valentine’s Day present. Too soon? Then Christmas present?

Sonya- The Polar Bear sweater is great. I’m not sure about the balaclava- she looks like she’s off to rob a bank.
It will be fun to see Ingeborg progress.

Oh, I think I need to get into monogomy myself! I have too many projects going, and it’s making me crazy. As soon as I get them done, I’m gonna try ONE thing at a time. That’s a beat of a sweater.

The Polar Bear sweater is a real WOW! I’ve never seen it before. WOW!
Ingeborg will be gorgeous too. :)

The Polar Bear Sweater is incredible. My intention was monogamy, too, but it’s only mid-Jan. and I already have 5 new projects on the go. I actually started and finished a project this week. I always start the sleeves for my gauge. The Black and White is gorgeous.

I think that you will have much better luck with the bear than the moose. And does it come with a matching hat? Still laughing over the moose (deer?) hat you knit DH a while back…

WOW – I love the bear sweater – you find the best patterns!

Knitting and ripping? Attempting to alter a stitch pattern? That could just be me.
I’d think next birthday would be plenty soon to get that moose sweater. After all, Ingeborg must be finished first and then there’s summer knitting for you.
    Ingeborg looks fab, btw!

Project Monogamy? I’m sorry I’m not familiar with that foreign concept :-)
